The Bauman Boyz: A sick week at the Bauman house

I was so excited for my Spring break week. A week off of teaching classes and perfect gardening and playing outdoors weather. I couldn't ask for more.

I have been on and off sick for about a month now with this weird lingering cough but nothing too bad that was keeping me off of my feet. So, as soon as the weather warmed up the boys and I decided to bike to Abuela and Papas to get some gardening beds prepped for sowing.

It was the day after that both boys ended up coming down with pink eye and a bug. Nehemiah was pretty excited about his pink eye as Xavier had it the week before. Anything Chevi has, Nehe wants... including pink eye.

I rounded up both kids and took them to visit Dr. Zoe. During our visit we also ended up finding out that Nehe had strep. Things slowly went downhill from there.

I ended up getting another bug. I was feeling weak, tired and with taking care of both boys I was pretty much exhausted. I did start utilizing some new homeopathic remedies that I have slowly been learning about. When Ezekiel came down with pink eye, I learned that placing chamomile tea bags on the infected eyes could cure it. I didn't know what to expect but gave it a try on both boys instead of using the medicated drops.

Ezekiel hated the idea of it but soon got used to it with no problem. After a snug from mama and a hug from Nehemiah he was feeling tons better. Nehemiah, on the other hand, loved the tea bags instead of the drops.

As crazy as it sounds, it WORKED! Nehes left eye cleared up and so did Ezekiels. I may have to use it on Zekie again since I have seen some drainage coming out of his eye again. This has made me excited to start learning more about medicinal herbs and their healing properties.

Besides some of these trials we did have a wonderful week together. I really love being with my boys especially that they are starting to become their own persons. I find that I'm no longer feeling alone during the day but well accompanied by two brilliant little boys.
